COLUMBIA — The Missouri women's basketball team still hasn't won in the Big 12 Conference after eight tries. The Tigers will be hard-pressed to earn their first conference victory in a rematch with No. 1 Baylor on Wednesday at Mizzou Arena.

Baylor beat Missouri 90-46 on Jan. 4 in Waco, Texas in both teams' first conference game. Missouri had 21 turnovers and managed 52 shots to Baylor's 75.

While Missouri has certainly improved since then, the Tigers are still a young team that struggles to keep possession of the ball and take good shots, which will both be important if they have any hope of an upset Wednesday.

Missouri lost in the final seconds in a close game against Oklahoma on Saturday, but Missouri coach Robin Pingeton said it was the best game she's seen her team play all season.

"That scoreboard is hard right now, but I think these girls finally got it figured out and understand the toughness that we're going to compete with night in and night out," she said after the game.

Toughness will come in handy when playing a Baylor team that averages 81.7 points per game, scores 30 more points and collects 15 more rebounds than its opponents on average.

While those numbers are daunting, Missouri has the advantage of playing at Mizzou Arena, and Missouri assistant coach Willie Cox said the Tigers aren't treating this game differently than others.

"Our mentality is to come out and work as hard as we can and really fight to get the win," Cox said.

The Bears have been ranked No. 1 for 12 consecutive weeks in the AP Top 25 and the ESPN/USA Today Coaches polls, and are one of only two teams in the Top 25 who have yet to lose a game (Green Bay is the other).
