Ruth Roe, March 17, 1940 — Feb. 8. 2012, of Columbia

Ruth M. Roe “Ruthie,” 71, of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2012. She was born in Boone County on March 17, 1940, to Preston “Pete” Bell McMahan and Pearl Marie Martin.

Ruth waitressed at Flaming Pit for over 20 years and Midway Travel Plaza for 18 years. She enjoyed her jobs and put her "all" into them. She especially enjoyed Saturdays out to lunch and shopping with her daughter.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Cindy Albright (Tim); grand-dog, Chopper; brother: Gary Lee McMahan (Eva), both of Columbia; niece: Janine Coleman (Danny); nephew: Mike McMahan (Pam); grand-nieces: Rebecca and Hanna Fay, grand-nephews: Brandon and Ryan, all of Rocheport.

She is also survived by: her step-mother: Sarah McMahan of Columbia; sisters: Nina Harrison (Ronnie) of Fulton, Mo., Sue Benedict (Dennis) and Kay McMahan, both of Columbia.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, sister-in-law: Evelyn Fay McMahan, and brothers: Homer Edward McMahan and Dennis E. McMahan

A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 12, 2012 at Memorial Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m., with a gathering of friends and family beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1900 N. Providence Road #105 Columbia, Mo., 65202.
