COLUMBIA — It’s Presidents Day on Monday.

Founded by an Act of Congress in 1879 to commemorate George Washington’s birthday, the holiday was designated to serve as a memorial to the great presidents of our history. But for forgetful postal and banking customers, the third Monday of February is an annual source of frustration and wasted trips to closed offices.

With gas prices set to reach record highs for this time of year, The Missourian would like to remind you what trips you can skip this Monday.

Closed for Presidents Day

  • Columbia-area banks
  • Columbia post offices
  • Columbia (Driver's) Licensing Services
  • Boone County Courthouse
  • Boone County Government Center

Open for business as usual

  • Columbia trash collection
  • MU
  • Columbia Public Transit
  • City offices
