Missouri softball closes tournament with win

The Missouri softball team defeated Eastern Tennessee State 9-3 on Sunday in its final game of a season-opening tournament at Troy University in Troy Ala., The No. 5-ranked Tigers improved to 3-1 with the victory.

Senior Kristin Nottelmann picked up her second win of the weekend, and the Tigers hit three home runs.

Nicole Hudson hit a one-out home run in the first inning. The blast to right-center was the first of the year for the junior and the 24th of her career.

Lindsey Muller delivered her first home run of the season in the fourth, sending a solo shot over the wall in left to put Missouri ahead 4-2.  Muller added her second home run of the game in the top of the seventh, another solo blast to left, extending the lead to the final margin.

Nottelmann threw a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out eight and issuing no walks. 

Next weekend, the Tigers will travel to Palm Springs, Calif., for the Cathedral City Classic. Mizzou will face UC Davis, Northwestern, Nebraska, Washington and UCLA over the course of three days.
