It was a strong start for the Missouri women's golf team.
The Tigers tied for second place in the Claud Jacobs Challenge held Sunday and Monday at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas. The tournament was the first competitive action for the Tigers in 2012.
The Tigers finished tied with the Iowa Hawkeyes, shooting 70-over-par as a team for the tournament. The Texas State Bobcats, the host team, won the tournament finishing 33 strokes ahead of the second-place teams.
Five Tigers finished in the top 30. Sophomore Kate Gallagher tied for 14th place, the highest individual finish for the Tigers and her career best.
Before Monday, Gallagher's best finish in a tournament was in October 2010, when she finished 23rd at the Las Vegas Shootout.
Missouri will travel Feb. 27-28 to Miami, where the Tigers will compete in the Sir Pizza Cards Challenge.
