SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield City Council voted on Tuesday night to certify the results of the Feb. 7 election in which voters approved the ordinance requiring Springfield businesses to use the federal E-Verify system to check employees' immigration status. Businesses will be subject to fines if they don't use the system.
