COLUMBIA — Joel Wesley Hartenbower, 39, who pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography in December, was sentenced to eight years in jail on Tuesday.

According to a release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department's Cyber Crimes Task Force, Hartenbower's case began Jan. 13, 2011, when the task force responded to a tip received by Columbia police that Hartenbower had child pornography on his computer.

Two computers were seized from Hartenbower's residence for analysis by the task force on March 1. The task force found more than 20 photo and video files depicting children believed to be as young as 2 years old.
