Missouri softball splits a pair of games at Cathedral City Classic

The Missouri softball team split a pair of games Saturday at the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif. The Tigers lost to Nebraska 6-4 before shutting out Washington 2-0 to move to 5-2 this season.
No. 11-ranked Missouri defeated UC Davis 8-0 on Friday in its tournament opener.
Redshirt junior Chelsea Thomas (2-1) tossed her eighth career no-hitter against Washington, striking out eight and walking none. Jenna Marston and Corrin Genovese had RBIs for the Tigers in the win.
Kristin Nottelmann (2-1) suffered the loss against Nebraska, striking out four, walking two and letting up seven hits. Genovese had a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored.
The Tigers finish play in the tournament Sunday with games against Northwestern and UCLA.
