Missouri softball team goes 3-2 at Cathedral City Classic

COLUMBIA — The Missouri softball team went 1-1 in its final day of play Sunday at the Cathedral City Classic in Palm Springs, Calif., leaving the Tigers' season record at 6-3.

No. 11-ranked Missouri lost 7-1 to Northwestern in its first game Sunday before beating No. 7/5 UCLA 7-5 in its late game.

Kristin Nottelmann (2-2) suffered the loss against Northwestern, allowing eight hits, striking out four and walking four in seven innings. Corrin Genovese walked and scored in the seventh inning after singles from Jenna Marston and Ashley Fleming.

Chelsea Thomas improved to 3-1, allowing up eight hits, striking out seven and walking five. Marston had two hits and scored twice. Nicole Hudson had three RBIs, and Kelsea Roth had two.

Missouri finished the three-day tournament at 3-2.
