Betty Jean Tate Martin

July 9, 1925 - January 25th, 2012

Betty passed away at her home in South San Francisco amidst her loving family and close friends. She lived a full and rich life and was the hub of a vibrant extended family.

She was born in Williamsburg, MO and grew up in the Mission District of San Francisco. She graduated from Mission High School in June, 1943, where she lettered in swimming and skating.

Betty married Mel Martin, the love of her life, in Long Beach, CA in April, 1945, beginning a sixty year marriage. They moved to South San Francisco in 1951 where they raised their family. 

Betty was a founding member of Hillside Church of God, and was also the Director of Hillside Nursery School for 22 years. 

Beloved wife of the late Melvin Martin, Betty is survived by her devoted children, Mike, Bob (Denise) , and Susan, and her grandson Scott Eli. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and extended family.
