Neil Harvey Koch, April 16, 1941 — Feb. 29, 2012, of Hermann

Neil Harvey Koch, 70, of Hermann, passed away on Feb. 29, 2012 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Koch was born in Hermann, Missouri, on April 16, 1941, the son of the late Harvey L. and Selma C. Koch.

He was the husband of Alverna "Vernie" (Rupp) Koch. They were united in marriage on Sept. 7, 1963, at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Hermann. She survives in Hermann.

Neil is also survived by two daughters, Jane Duncan and husband Mark of Columbia and Amy Monachino and husband, Ted, of Clarksville, Md.; a sister Darlene Faerber of Hermann; a brother Norbert Koch and wife, Jenny, of Springdale, Ark.; his mother-in-law Ada Heinlein of Hermann; a brother-in-law Wayne Rupp of Hermann; and seven grandchildren, Mikalee, Sam and Michael Monachino, Laurie Frew and Hannah, Coline and Sam Duncan. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Neil worked for Siegel-Roberts as a quality control manager until his retirement in 2008. He also owned and operated Hermann Lanes in the 1970s. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Hermann and served as city council alderman from 1976 to 1978. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing at the farm and playing cards with family and friends. In his younger years, he enjoyed umpiring slow pitch softball and high school baseball.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Hermann, with the Rev. Rick Riedel officiating. Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens in Hermann.

Memorials may be given to Gasconade County Alumni Association or St. Paul U.C.C. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
