The Missouri baseball team never settled in at the plate on Friday night, totaling just five hits as it fell to Ball State University 5-2 in its home opener.

The game was tied 2-2 until the Cardinals rallied for three runs in the seventh inning. The Tigers were unable to respond.

Starting pitcher Eric Anderson gave up five runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings. First baseman Landon Lucansky accounted for both of Missouri's RBIs when he tripled in his second collegiate at-bat.

Missouri and Ball State will play again at 2 p.m. Saturday in the second of a three-game series.
