Shooting at Eighth Street leaves one seriously wounded

COLUMBIA — A shooting near Eighth Street and Park Avenue left one victim seriously injured Sunday afternoon.

Officers were dispatched to a reported shooting at the 300 block of Eighth Street at 3:09 p.m. Sunday, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said.

One victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance with a gunshot wound and is in critical condition. The victim has not been identified.

The investigation so far has an unknown number of suspects, but patrol officers, detectives and a forensic evidence team are investigating the scene, Stroer said.
