Missouri coach Frank Haith was named the AP Big 12 Coach of the Year on Monday morning.
"It's about our guys, it's about our staff," Haith said. "They did a hell of a job. I'm really proud of these young men. I really believe this: We just didn't mess it up. We had great players and our coaches did a great job."
Haith did not win the Big 12 Coach of the Year award as voted by the coaches in the conference. That award was split between Kansas coach Bill Self and Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg. Kansas won the Big 12 regular season title for the eighth straight season and Iowa State took the No. 3 seed after beating Baylor on Saturday night.
"Both guys that won it are deserving," Haith said. "They both did a hell of a job."
The AP also named its All-Big 12 teams on Monday. Missouri senior Marcus Denmon was named first-team All-Big 12.
"He's gonna go down as one of the all-time greats to play at Mizzou," Haith said about Denmon. "He's not just a special player, he's a special young man."
Senior Ricardo Ratliffe and sophomore Phil Pressey were named second-team All-Big 12. Senior Kim English and junior Michael Dixon were named honorable mentions.
The Tigers will find out what bracket they will be in for the NCAA Tournament on Sunday night. Their performance in the Big 12 tournament this week will affect what seed they draw.
