William Granville Buckler

William Granville Buckler of Columbia died Saturday, March 3, 2012. He was 93.

He was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Boone County to Jodie Cephas and Willie Mary (Stidham) Buckler. He married Mary Rader on June 20, 1948.

Mr. Buckler served in the U.S. Army during WWII in California, France and Germany. He worked in the refrigeration industry for 33 years until he retired in 1984. He owned his own business for a few years and then was a 17-year employee of MU in the refrigeration department. He also worked for Platz Furniture and Appliance.

Mr. Buckler is survived by his wife, Mary; two sons, Denny and his wife, Sharon, of Columbia, and David and his wife, Sabrina, of Piedmont, Okla.; one brother, Leland and his wife, Mary Lou, of Higginsville, Mo.; three grandchildren, Katie and Chris of Piedmont, Okla. and Justin and his wife, Susan, of Columbia; and several nieces and nephews.

One brother and three sisters died earlier.

Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 W.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home. An interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, 104 Corporate Lake Drive, or the American Cancer Society, 1900 N. Providence Road, or a charity of your choice.
