What dog is your personal Best in Show? Missourian staffers share their own

Missourian News Editor Laura Johnston's Reilly, 9, is full of energy. Johnston thinks he is a Bearded Collie mix but is definitely in the herding family.

More than 870 dogs will pack the Boone County Fairgrounds this weekend as the Columbia Missouri Kennel Club Dog Show takes place.

That's a lot of dogs.

The event's judges will have their own criteria for what makes a winning dog. Dog lovers, however, usually have different ideas about what makes their dogs a more personal Best in Show.

We want to see pictures of dogs Missourian readers love. Please include the dog's name, breed and age, along with the name of the dog's owner. Photos can be submitted in a number of ways, .

To get things kicked off, some of the Missourian's own editors shared photos of their beloved pets. Some are included here. To see more photos of Missourian staffers' dogs, please go to the Columbia Missourian's Facebook page or the Columbia Missourian's Pinterest board.

The submitted photos will be published on the Missourian's website, Facebook page and Pinterest account.

Missourian Managing Editor Jeanne Abbott's German Shepherd, Bear, is 11 years old.
Missourian Managing Editor Jeanne Abbott's dog Maggie is a 7-year-old Newfoundland.
Joy Mayer's dog, Maya, was rescued from a pound in Florida as a puppy. Maya, 13, is a loveable mutt who might have some red fox lab in her. Mayer is the Missourian's director of community outreach.
Tom Warhover, the Missourian's executive editor, shares a photo of Taylor, aka "Woobie," who went to dog heaven in 2009. In this picture from 2005, Warhover's daughter, Megan, and the Golden Retriever, who was 8 at the time, enjoy sunshine on the beach.
Missourian Managing Editor Jeanne Abbott's Wheaten Terriers are Tucker, 5, on the left and Lucy, 11, on the right.
