Missouri women's basketball recruit named state's Gatorade Player of the Year

COLUMBIA — The Missouri women's basketball program took a step forward in rebuilding when Maddie Stock, a 6-foot-1 guard, signed a national letter of intent last fall to play for the Tigers next season.
On Thursday, Stock, a senior at St. Joseph's Academy in St. Louis, was named this season's Gatorade Missouri Girls Basketball Player of the Year.
She scored 17.5 points, had 5.1 rebounds, 5.03 steals and 3.16 assists per game her senior season when she led her team to the quarterfinals of the Class 5 state tournament and a 25-6 overall record. She was a three-time St. Louis Post-Dispatch All-Metro and three-time Class 5 All-State selection.
Stock's twin sister, Morgan Stock, who will also play for Missouri next season.
