COLUMBIA — A man suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after he fell 30 feet from a construction site Tuesday afternoon, Columbia Fire Battalion Chief Steven Sapp said.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the incident, which took place at the corner of College Avenue and Walnut Street. Brookside on College, an apartment building designed for students, is being built at the site.

OSHA's Kansas City area office will send a compliance officer to investigate the incident, area director Barbara Theriot said.

The worker was transported to University Hospital.

Sapp did not release the man's name or other information because of privacy laws.
