Columbia College women's basketball ends season with NAIA tournament loss

The Columbia College women's basketball team lost its first-round game in the NAIA national tournament Thursday in Frankfort, Ky., ending its season with a 76-46 loss to Langston University.

The Cougars tried to make a comeback after trailing 46-26 at halftime, but the Lions, who were ranked No. 10 nationally coming into the matchup, proved to be too much. 

The Cougars were plagued by turnovers, committing 15 that translated into 18 Langston points. 

Ashley Fisher led the Cougars with 23 points. Sophomore Heather English chipped in 13, while junior Julie Teeple led the team in rebounds with 10. 

With the loss, Columbia College finishes the season at 24-10.
