We have known Barbara Hoppe for many years as an excellent neighbor up the street and around the corner. She has always shown concern for the well-being of our neighborhood, a quality that has extended to the Sixth Ward and the City of Columbia as she has served on the City Council.
Although Barbara is modest in taking credit for her role in it, she was the driving force behind Columbia’s acquisition of the Stephens Park property. This park, located relatively close to the center of Columbia, has been developed into a marvelous facility, a great asset to Columbia and the crown jewel of Columbia’s excellent park system. On the warm spring days that we have had this March, the sight of the large numbers of citizens enjoying the park reminds us of what a fine facility it is for Columbia.

Stephens Park is not an insignificant factor in enhancing the property values in the surrounding area. Thank you, Barbara, for your efforts in bringing this asset to our community.
As semi-retirees we realize the value of Columbia as one of the most livable small cities in the U.S. with excellent access to virtually any kind of medical care and other amenities that make living here a great experience.
With her diligent work on the City Council and her strong commitment to community quality, livability, and smart growth, Barbara Hoppe has exhibited a strong commitment to the maintenance and enhancement of our city. We strongly support her re-election to Sixth Ward Council.
Stanley and Anne Manahan are Columbia residents.
