Pedestrian injured in motor vehicle accident released from hospital

COLUMBIA — A pedestrian hit in a motor vehicle accident around 10 p.m. Wednesday has been released from University Hospital.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Rollins Street and Virginia Avenue, according to MU Police Captain Brian Weimer. He said the driver was intoxicated.

Mason Shank, 22, who was driving the vehicle, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and careless and imprudent driving involving an accident.

The pedestrian's name has not been released. Weimer said the police department is waiting until her family has been fully notified.
