COLUMBIA — Residents in the Saddlebrook Place and Kennesaw Ridge neighborhoods have reported three robberies since February, according to police.
The first of these instances occurred on Feb. 15 when police officers were dispatched to 3800 Saddlebrook Place at 6:40 p.m. in response to an armed robbery.
According to a news release from the Police Department, a male and a female victim were parking their car and walking to a residence when they were approached by two males who demanded the female victim's purse. She gave up her purse when she turned and saw one of the suspects pointing a gun at the male victim.
Another instance occurred at 12:40 a.m. on March 13 when officers responded to an armed robbery at 1115 Kennesaw Ridge.
According to the release, a male victim was being dropped off by a female victim at that address when a male approached the vehicle and asked for directions. The male victim provided the directions and noticed the suspect turned back around and approached the passenger door of the vehicle and displayed a knife.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money and items before walking away from the scene northbound on Saddlebrook.
A third incident occurred at 11:05 p.m. on March 23
An officer was dispatched to 1115 Kennesaw Ridge in response to an armed robbery.
According to the release, a female victim was walking to her car with a duffel bag on one shoulder and her purse on the other. She said she heard someone yell from a distance and noticed a man walking toward her.
The female victim was aware of the recent robberies in the area, so she tried to quickly unlock her car door, according to police. While unlocking the door, she heard the suspect running toward her. She was able to get the door open, but the suspect grabbed her duffel bag, police said.
The victim struck the suspect with the car door. She struggled with the suspect, and he took her duffel bag and fled on foot.
