BILL PAULS

Education: Bachelor's degree in agriculture, Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University).

Background: Represents the Second Ward on the Parks and Recreation Commission, president of the Hunters Gate Neighborhood Association, volunteer with the Columbia Hospitality Corps, member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Background: Member of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, Columbia Lodge #207; the Missouri Cadre for Co-Occurring Excellence; KOPN; and the Boone County Offender Transition Network.

Education: Graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 1999; dual degrees in marketing and entrepreneurship from Baylor University, 2003.

Background: Serves on the Central Columbia Association board of directors, deacon at Memorial Baptist Church; volunteer referee for the church’s Upward Basketball League.

BARBARA HOPPE

Personal: Age 61. She is married to Mike Sleadd. She has two daughters from a previous marriage, and Sleadd has two sons.

Education: Bachelor’s degrees in education, history and political science from the University of Michigan, 1972; juris doctorate from MU, 1987, specializing in advocacy, negotiation and mediation.

Background: Member of Columbia’s Active Living by Design Committee, founded Hinkson Valley Neighborhood Association, charter member of Boone County Smart Growth Coalition, served on board of Boone County League of Women Voters, served on board of Heart of Missouri Court of Appointed Special Advocates.
