LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Hoppe exemplifies leadership for Columbia

COLUMBIA — Barbara Hoppe exemplifies the kind of leadership that we need on the Columbia City Council. She cares for her constituents, listens to their concerns and actively engages in the issues.

I have been impressed by her thoroughness in preparation for Council meetings, as well as her follow-through with everyone from local neighborhood groups to city staff.

Barbara’s commitment to sustainable growth, coupled with her respect for the traditional strengths of Columbia, makes her a uniquely valuable member of our City Council. She brings a voice of wisdom and temperance to the table that is deeply needed, especially as our town faces the challenge of planning for future growth.

Finally, my respect for Barbara has deepened as I have watched her rise above the unfortunate negativity that has characterized her opponent’s attacks and surrounding political conversation.

Barbara Hoppe exemplifies the best of Columbia, Mo., and deserves re-election on Tuesday.
