Columbia College softball sweeps doubleheader

The Columbia College softball team ended its spring break trip Friday with a doubleheader sweep at Indiana-Southeast. The Cougars beat the Grenadiers 7-3 in the first game and 6-0 in the second in New Albany, Ind.

Senior Jordan Crisp (6-6) was the winning pitcher in Game 1, allowing six hits and two walks while striking out three. 

Morgan Bounds had three hits and two RBIs for Columbia College (11-13), including two doubles. Tori Gehlert and Karina Veit each had two hits, including a double and a run scored.

In Game 2, Taylor Richter (5-4) gave up just three hits and one walk in five innings.  Maria Imhoff threw the last two innings in relief.  

Veit had three hits, two doubles and five RBIs, while Bounds, Chelsie Crain, Whitni Howell and Alex Ridenhour each had two hits.

Columbia College plays next in an American Midwest Conference doubleheader against Hannibal-LanGrange set to begin at 2 p.m. Monday in Hannibal.
