COLUMBIA — Shots were fired Sunday when three armed men robbed a home in the 2800 block of Mexico Gravel Road.

Three unidentified men carrying handguns and wearing bandanas over their faces forced open the front door of the home, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department issued Monday.

During the robbery, a male victim was struck on the head with a handgun, causing a minor injury. He was treated by medical personnel at the scene, the release stated. A second male victim was approached in an upstairs bedroom, where one of the armed men demanded money and fired a threatening shot into the wall.

The armed men stole cash and items from the home before leaving through the back sliding glass doors, the release stated.

A witness reported that the men ran west on Mexico Gravel Road toward Paris Road. According to the release, the witness said one of the men fired multiple shots in the direction of the home invasion.

The police have not yet made any arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
