COLUMBIA — Rock Bridge senior golfer Will Echelmeier shot a par 70 to win the Columbia Classic on Tuesday at A.L. Gustin Golf Course.

Bruins senior Austin Evans was second with a 71, and fellow senior Harry Schauwecker was third with a 73 to help the Bruins finish second as a team. Rockhurst edged Rock Bridge 280-283 for the title.

Echelmeier said he was happy that all of the work he put into his game during spring break paid off.

"I think I only took one day off, I was out there every day, shooting, working on different things," Echelmeier said. "I'm proud of what we did today."

Rock Bridge's next match will be against Helias Catholic, Hickman and Jefferson City at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Oak Hills Golf Center in Jefferson City.
