Cindy Stein, who coached Missouri women's basketball for 12 seasons, was hired Tuesday as the women's basketball coach at Illinois Central College, the Peoria Journal Star reports.

Stein finished her career at Missouri with a 173-159 record and three trips to the NCAA Tournament, including a Sweet 16 appearance. She resigned in 2010 after two consecutive seasons with a below .500 record.

Stein, a Peoria, Ill., native, played college basketball at Illinois Central College and led the school to two appearances at the NJCAA National Tournament before transferring to the University of Illinois. In 2002 she was inducted into the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame.
