Three players granted release from Missouri women's basketball team

COLUMBIA — The seniors aren't the only players who won't return to the Missouri women's basketball team next season.

Maggie Flynn, Tori Niemann and Paige Spietz have all requested and were granted their release from the team, spokesman Keith Soder said. All three players just finished their sophomore seasons with the team.

Flynn, Niemann and Spietz saw less playing time than any of their teammates this season. Nine Tigers played in 29 or more of the team's 31 games. Niemann played in 16, while Spietz and Flynn both played in 15.

Missouri finished in last place in the Big 12 Conference this season with a 2-16 conference record.
