COLUMBIA — At least one shot was fired following a domestic dispute between a man and woman shortly after noon Friday at a gas station east of Columbia.

Witnesses told police that the two were arguing in the parking lot when at least one shot was fired from a brown Chevrolet Tahoe, according to a news release from the Boone County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff's deputies and Columbia Police responded at 12:49 p.m. to the Kwik Store/BP Station at 5701 E. St. Charles Road.

A semiautomatic pistol believed to be involved in the shooting was recovered from a woman's purse near Boone County Fire Protection District Station 1 on East St. Charles Road, the release stated.

A 24-year-old man believed to be involved in the dispute was released after detectives interviewed him. No one has been arrested or charged at this time, and there have been no injuries reported.
