James Morris loved his family and outdoors

James L. "Jimmy" Morris had always been an outdoorsman, especially when it came to fishing and hunting. 

James L. "Jimmy" Morris of Centralia died Wednesday, April 18, 2012. He was 54.

Mr. Morris was born Oct. 1, 1957, in Audrain County to Robert Lewis and Lila Evelyn (Campbell) Morris. He married Tammie Mueller on Sept. 23, 1975, in Columbia.

He followed his father's footsteps working in the construction industry. Mr. Morris owned and operated Morris Excavating LLC for more than 20 years. 

He enjoyed the company of his family and friends and was loved as a husband, father and grandfather. They remember him best for his warm smile and deep belly laugh.

Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Tammie; two daughters, Michelle Morris and her husband, Sevand Brewer Jr., and Brandi Morris, both of Centralia; two grandchildren, Skylar Morris and ArieAunna Brewer; one sister, Bobbie Bennett of Hallsville; two nephews, Scott Pflibsen and his wife, Jami, of Richmond Hill, Ga., and Rob Duncan and his wife, Tracy, of Hallsville; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Randall and Lorene Mueller of Centralia. 

His parents, Robert Lewis and Lila Evelyn (Campbell) Morris; stepmother, Anita Morris; and a best friend, Steve Daly, died earlier.

Visitation will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial Funeral Home, 1217 Business Loop 70 E. Services will follow at 5 p.m. and entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Scholarship Fund for Skylar Morris and ArieAunna Brewer, c/o Tammie Morris, through any branch of Boone Country National Bank.
