Jackson County circuit judge confirmed for federal bench

KANSAS CITY — Jackson County Circuit Judge Brian C. Wimes is moving to the Missouri federal bench.

The U.S. Senate confirmed Wimes' appointment on Monday.

The Kansas City Star reports Wimes' appointment was approved by a 92-1 vote.

Wimes joined the Jackson County Circuit Court in 2001 as a drug court commissioner. Gov. Matt Blunt appointed him to the circuit bench in 2007. He also worked as an assistant prosecutor for Jackson County.
