Crystal E. Crane loved sewing, old way of life

Tuesday, April 24, 2012 | 6:44 p.m. CDT

COLUMBIA — Crystal E. Crane spent much of her leisure time sewing before and after she retired.

"She was quite good at crocheting and quilting," her son Lindell Crane said. "I don't know how she got time to do all of that, but she did."

Mrs. Crane of Columbia died Tuesday, April 24, 2012. She was 92.

Mrs. Crane was born March 5, 1920, in Boone County to Gilbert and Eliza (McClanahan) Winfrey.

Mrs. Crane missed the good old days when people had closer relationships with each other, her son said.

"She always wanted to go back to the way it used to be when everybody was friends and everybody was visiting each other," he said.

Family was the most important thing to Mrs. Crane, her son said.

"She came from a background of a good home and happy family, and she kept it throughout her life," he said. "She will definitely be missed, and there is no doubt about that."

Mrs. Crane is survived by one son, Lindell Crane and wife Peggy, of Columbia; one grandchild, Kevin Crane and wife Terri; three step-grandchildren, Angie Wilcoxson, Gina Fancher and Marc Nichols; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Jim Bender officiating at the Nashville Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Nashville Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nashville Cemetery, 355 W. Nashville Church Rd, Ashland, MO 65010 in care of the family.
