The Stephens College softball team finished the regular season Tuesday, sweeping a doubleheader from visiting Principia College.

The Stars won the first game 8-5 and the second 9-1.

The Stars had won one game in April and were carrying an 11-game losing streak into Tuesday's doubleheader.

Catcher and leadoff hitter Jessica McConnell led the Stars' offense in the first game, collecting three hits and a pair of RBIs.

In the second game, starting pitcher Emily Park threw five innings allowing only one unearned run.

With the victories, the Stars improve to 15-26 overall. Stephens is 1-15 in American Midwest Conference competition.

Stephens will start postseason play against top-seeded Williams Baptist in the quarterfinals of the AMC tournament.

The best-of-three series will begin with a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Friday at Williams Baptist.
