Columbia police investigate armed burglary at Camden Circle home

COLUMBIA — The Columbia Police Department responded to a residential burglary Tuesday night in east Columbia.

A woman encountered a burglar upon returning to her home near the 5700 block of Camden Circle, according to a news release from Columbia police. She reported the male suspect was wearing a shirt over his head and brandished a handgun when she entered the home. The suspect demanded money from the woman. The victim fled the house and immediately went to a neighbor's home.

Police responded to the incident at 10:23 p.m.

The suspect is thought to have left the scene on foot in an unknown direction with an undisclosed amount of property or money. During the burglary, no one was injured. No arrests had been made and the police investigation was ongoing.

The Columbia police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious at the time of the incident to contact the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 875-8477.
