Missouri softball splits doubleheader with Oregon

The No. 9 Missouri softball team split its doubleheader Saturday at No. 12 Oregon, dropping the first game 8-3 but recovering to win the second 7-3. The Tigers (40-12, 14-7) won their series against the Ducks (37-14) after a 5-4 win on Friday.

Kristin Nottelmann (12-5) took the loss in the first game, giving up eight runs, six of them earned, on 10 hits in six innings. Oregon's Jessica Moore (25-11), who picked up the win in four innings of work, and Karissa Hovinga, who picked up the save in three, allowed just one Tiger hit: Kelsey Roth's RBI single in the third.

In the second game, Chelsea Thomas (21-7) threw seven innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits, striking out nine. Moore threw six innings for Oregon and gave up seven runs.

Right fielder Ashley Fleming was 3-3 with two RBIs, and Ashtin Stephens was 1-3 with two RBIs.

Missouri next plays against Oklahoma State on May 11 at 6 p.m. in Columbia.
