FROM READERS: Tolton athletics director welcomes new basketball coach

Thursday, May 10, 2012 | 12:00 p.m. CDT

Chad Masters is the athletics director at Fr. Tolton Regional Catholic High School.

We are pleased to announce that Tyler Clark will serve as our new head boys basketball coach! We are excited to see him lead the Trailblazer basketball program now and in the future, creating a Christ-centered, competitive program that upholds our mission of "Building Champions On and Off the Court!"

The interview committee focused on finding a candidate that could lead the program in our specific faith community, while holding the athletes and program to high standards and expectations. We looked for a candidate who possesses strong character and excellent knowledge of the game of basketball. We have found that person.

Clark is a man of strong morals, character and faith. His strong Christian faith will enable him to lead our athletics and model the mission and values of our school and athletics department. He brings with him head coaching experience (at New Bloomfield and South Shelby High School), 10 years of coaching overall, a District Championship, a Class 2 Final Four appearance, and a Class 2 Coach of the Year award. Clark is an extremely organized and detailed coach who has excellent communication skills. We feel that all of these things separated him from all of the other candidates and helped him earn the privilege of serving our community, school and basketball program. We are looking forward to Coach Clark leading our team into their first year of varsity basketball.

Please join me in extending a warm Tolton Catholic welcome to Coach Clark and his family. I am looking forward to writing the "Next Chapter" in Tolton Catholic Trailblazer basketball history, and seeing his program continue to grow and develop! Thanks for all of the support and interest in Tolton Catholic athletics.
