COLUMBIA — The woman found covered in blood on Range Line Street two weeks ago was sexually assaulted, police said.
At 2:42 p.m. April 26, police responded to the woman's report that she'd been assaulted. She was found walking along the sidewalk of the 2900 block of Range Line Street north of Casey's Convenience Store, according to a Columbia Police Department news release.
She was taken to University Hospital in an ambulance.
The investigation into the assault was delayed because the woman has an unrelated medical condition, said Columbia Police Department Public Information Officer Latisha Stroer. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing.
The victim described the suspect as a 6-foot-1-inch black male in his 30s, with a thin build and short hair or a shaved head.
Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the Columbia Police Department or Crime Stoppers at 875-8477.
