Missouri baseball lets lead slip away in home finale

Sunday, May 13, 2012 | 10:50 p.m. CDT

In a back-and-forth game, the Missouri baseball team couldn't hold on. The Tigers rallied from a 3-run deficit to take a 6-4 lead in the fifth inning, but Memphis scored runs in three of the final four innings Sunday to leave Columbia with an 8-7 win.

Missouri's home finale saw Dane Opel hit his Big 12-leading 11th home run, and Andreas Plackis extend his hitting streak to 13 games. Missouri's Blake Brown hit a solo home run with two outs in the ninth but Conner Mach, who had 3 RBIs in the game, grounded out to end the game.

Missouri (27-24) plays its final regular season series against Kansas next weekend in Lawrence, Kan.
