Michael Harms, of Columbia, Nov. 15, 1983 - May 14, 2012

Michael Harms, 28, died Monday.

Michael Harms, 28, of Columbia passed away May 14, 2012 at South Hampton Place, surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday, May 18, 2012 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2201 W. Rollins Road, Columbia, MO. Funeral services will be on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Michael was born November 15, 1983, in Columbia, to Warren and Karen (Turner) Harms. He married Rebecca Bolden on May 5, 2011 in Columbia. Michael and Rebecca have one daughter, Emma Kay Frances Harms.

Michael graduated from Rock Bridge High School in 2002. His Jr. year of high school he was a foreign exchange student and spent a full year in Germany. He earned an Associates Degree in the Korean Language at the Presidio of Monterey in California. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from Columbia College in May of 2011. Michael was an avid sports fan; he loved participating in and watching sports. Michael was a faithful and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Michael joined the United States Marine Corp in October 2002. He served for 10 years and was honorably discharged as a sergeant on November 13, 2011.

Michael is survived by his wife and daughter of Columbia; his parents, Warren and Karen Harms of Columbia; two brothers, Les Harms of Boonville and Derrick Harms of Columbia; one grandmother, Helen Harms of Cole Camp, MO; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Tom and Dorothy Turner; an Uncle, Tom “Buster” Turner and grandfather, Marvin Harms.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Child Learning Center, Good Shepherd Lutheran School or Columbia College Cougar Club and Scholarship Fund.
