Rock Bridge boys golfers fifth at state tournament

The Rock Bridge boys golf team finished fifth in the Class 4 state championship after shooting a 313 in Tuesday's final round at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar.

Rockhurst claimed the title after shooting a 299 Tuesday. Combined with Monday's first-round 301, the Hawklets won with a 600 team total. Blue Springs South was second at 624, Poplar Bluff was third at 625 and Francis Howell was fourth at 629.

Rock Bridge, which shot a 319 in Monday's first round, secured fifth with a 632.

William Echelmeier and Jack Knoesel led the Bruins, finishing among three golfers tied for 24th place at 156. Mark Austin Evans was just a few spots back in a three-way tie for 27th at 157.

Hickman's Matthew Garner, who played as an individual, had the best finish among Columbia golfers, shooting a 155 to finish in a tie for 22nd.

Jason Huska led Rockhurst, topping the individual standings with a 141 that included a 2-under par 70 on Tuesday.
