Man, 2 children die in Kansas City house fire

KANSAS CITY — Police say a fire that killed a man and his two children in their south Kansas City home appears to be accidental.

Kansas City fire officials said the blaze early Wednesday killed a 31-year-old man, a 7-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy. Their names have not been released.

The man's wife escaped the home and went with the 2-year-old to the hospital, where he died. The man and his daughter died at the scene.

Fire department spokesman Lew Perkins said fire was coming from every window when firefighters arrived.

Police spokesman Steve Young said firefighters don't have an exact cause of the blaze, but it doesn't appear to be arson.
