Mello, a junior who placed ninth in the state cross country meet last fall, won both the 3200- and 1600-meter run in sectional competition Saturday in West Plaines. Mello ran the 1600 in 5 minutes, 8 seconds and finished the 3200 in 11:24.

The Kewpies other qualifiers included Hannah Corbine, Tiana Schimming and Mikayla Logan, who joined Potter in the 4 x 400-meter relay and placed second in 4:03.
