COLUMBIA — A man was sentenced Monday to six years in prison by the Boone County Circuit Court for possession of child pornography.

Joseph Kreiser, 47, of Columbia, was arrested in June 2011 and pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in February 2012.

More than 60 images of children were seized as a result of a March 2, 2011, court ordered search warrant of Kreiser's home, said Andy Anderson, a detective with the Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force. The warrant came after an investigation by the task force discovered a computer in the Columbia area was file sharing images of children.

The file transmissions were traced to Kreiser's home, and he was identified as the person responsible for the possession of the files, according to a news release from the Cyber Crimes Task Force.
