Firefighters respond to a reported structure fire in a duplex at 4004 Imperial Court. No one was injured in the incident, and the cause is still under investigation.

COLUMBIA — Eighteen firefighters in five trucks responded to a fire in a duplex at 4004 Imperial Court on Wednesday but were able to use a single hose to quickly mitigate the flames.

No one was injured in the incident.

Damage was limited to the exterior and siding of Apartment B, near its kitchen and upstairs bedroom. Investigators estimated the cost at $10,000.

The interior of the apartment only sustained light smoke damage, not enough to trigger fire alarms, Columbia Fire Department Capt. John Metz said. He was unable to confirm whether the alarms were functional at the time of the fire.

Metz said it was unclear who called firefighters.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
