Missouri softball team loses super regional opener

COLUMBIA — The Missouri softball team lost 6-1 to LSU on Saturday in the first game of the Columbia super regional at University Field.

Missouri ace Chelsea Thomas left the game in the fifth inning after letting up five runs on five hits.

The Tigers scored their only run when Nicole Hudson doubled and was driven in by Kayla Kingsley in the fourth.

Allison Falcon had two hits and three RBIs for LSU.

Now, Missouri must win twice to reach their fourth consecutive Women's College World Series. Super-regional play is set to continue at 2:30 p.m. and, if necessary, 5 p.m. Sunday at University Field.
