COLUMBIA — Columbia kids looking to get involved in the community this summer are invited to attend the Youth In Action information session Friday.

The city volunteer program will hold the session from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Activity and Recreation Center, 1701 W. Ash St., and the session will be geared toward youth ages 12 to 15 looking to get involved. The program is a way for Columbia's youth to make an impact in the community.

Volunteers can participate in one or many of the roughly 30 to 35 volunteer opportunities available throughout the summer. These volunteer opportunities are held during a wide range of times throughout the week at organizations and events around Columbia.

Applicants are accepted based on appropriate age and interest to participate.

Supervising editor is John Schneller.
