James Martin Kroon, Feb. 17, 1957 — May 25, 2012, of Columbia

COLUMBIA — James Martin Kroon, of Columbia and formerly of Fayette, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, the result of a motorcycle accident in Floyd County, Virginia. He was 55 years old.

Mr. Kroon was born February 17, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan, to John Jacob and Virginia Mary Ballor Kroon.

James was a United States Air Force Veteran serving for nearly 20 years and retiring at the rank of Captain. He was director of Clinical Applications at the University of Missouri from 1997-2003 and also was Director of Financial Applications at Cincinnati Children's Hospital from 2003-2006.

He was an avid traveler and had visited every state in the nation except Alaska and was planning a motorcycle tour of Australia and Europe. He was a member of the Central Missouri Motorcycle Rider's Club, Columbia Walking and Hiking Club and Missourian's for Ron Paul.

Survivors include his girlfriend, Laura Ruth Tyler of Columbia; his sons, James Edward Kroon, Christopher Ryan Kroon, Lucas James Kroon, John Jacob Kroon, and Joseph Jedidia Kroon; his daughters, Katherine Marie McNeilly, Kelsey Elizabeth Kroon, and Anna Elise Kroon; three brothers, Mark Kroon, Joel Kroon and Jeffrey Kroon, and a sister, Paula Ireland. Also surviving are grandchildren, Nicholas Heidy-McNeilly, Breanna Kroon, Caitlyn Kroon and Christopher Kroon Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Kroon.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with the Rev. Jamie Page officiating. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m.

Burial with military honors will be at Fayette City Cemetery.
