COLUMBIA — Cedric Barnum, 28, of Columbia, was arrested and charged with armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon in connection with shootings at Albert-Oakland Park on Monday.
Bond was initially set at $4,500 for unlawful use of a weapon, but had not been set for the armed criminal action charge, Columbia Police Department spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
She said police spoke with Barnum by phone and arrested him at 3:50 p.m. Thursday. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 3:06 a.m. Friday, jail administrator Warren Brewer said.
The police received phone calls Monday evening from people who heard shots fired in the park. After a verbal argument between approximately 15 people, a member of the group shot at the people involved in the argument and fled in a vehicle, police said.
Police believe there was only one shooter, Stroer said. No one was injured.
Police initially issued a warrant for Barnum on suspicion of unlawful use of a weapon, armed criminal action and property damage in the first degree, Stroer said. The incident was still under investigation Friday morning.
