COLUMBIA —An 84-year-old female driver was transported by ambulance to University Hospital Friday after her vehicle rolled over into a drainage ditch near the intersection of Interstate 70 Drive Northwest and Barnwood Drive.
Columbia firefighters responded to the report just after 9 a.m., bringing two fire engines and a rescue squad, according to a news release from the Columbia Fire Department. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Firefighters spent 15 minutes removing the woman from her vehicle, a silver Toyota Yaris. The driver said she was wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.
